ToggleMenstruation After Pregnancy
When does your first period after pregnancy occur?
The timing of your first period after pregnancy varies greatly from person to person, and it depends on whether you’re breastfeeding or not. If you’re not breastfeeding, you’ll get used to it within about 3 to 6 weeks after giving birth. But if you’re breastfeeding, the onset of your first period can be delayed by weeks, months, or even until you stop breastfeeding, which is another benefit of breastfeeding.
What will your first period be like?
Some women experience heavier, more irregular, and more painful bleeding than usual. If you have been using a pad or tampon every hour for two hours in a row, have sudden heavy bleeding, pass large clots, or have pain that is much more intense and different from your usual period pain, be sure to tell your doctor. Prepare for your period to start again by using a comfortable, high-protection pad. Always Diamond Extra Large or Always Overnight Pads are great for heavy bleeding or for use at night. They have wings, are extra soft, and are very absorbent. Use Always Ultra-Thin Daily Pads when needed, so you won’t even feel them.
Is it possible to get pregnant before your first period?
Contrary to popular belief, yes, it is possible to get pregnant before your first period after pregnancy.
Menstruation occurs after ovulation. So it is possible that ovulation has occurred but menstruation has not occurred, so there is a possibility of pregnancy at this time. Sometimes some women realize that they are pregnant even six weeks after giving birth! If you are planning to avoid pregnancy, be sure to use birth control devices or pills.
