The best way to help is to quit unhealthy habits like smoking and drinking alcohol.<br \/>\nWays to relieve hot flashes include wearing light, light-colored clothing and avoiding caffeine and spicy foods.<br \/>\n<strong>Prescription Medications for Hot Flashes:<\/strong> Hormone therapy (HT) and hormone replacement therapy (HRT) are recommended for hot flashes. HT relieves hot flashes, night sweats, and helps prevent osteoporosis. Estrogen and progesterone are prescribed to women who have a uterus, but estrogen alone is prescribed if a woman has had her uterus removed (hysterectomy). Being sexually active also helps to preserve vaginal tissue.<br \/>\nSome women should not take hormone therapy.
