Postpartum Bleeding
After giving birth, the mother will have some bleeding called lochia. This bleeding actually consists of blood and endometrial tissue. This bleeding occurs in both vaginal and cesarean deliveries. The color of lochia changes over time. In the first three to four days, it is red, which gradually changes to a pink-brown color. The amount of bleeding also gradually decreases and becomes lighter about three weeks after delivery. If the clots you pass are very large, be sure to tell your doctor, as it may be a sign of another problem. In addition, keep your used sanitary pads, as your doctor may need to examine them.
