How to Read a Pregnancy Blood Test?
Most young couples who are expecting a child for the first time want to know the test results quickly, which is why it can be useful to be familiar with how to read a blood test.
According to Salamat News, citing the Journalists’ Club; Whether a pregnancy blood test result is positive or negative for women directly depends on the level of the hormone human chorionic gonadotropin, abbreviated as HCG.
This hormone is produced by cells created in the placenta that are responsible for nourishing the egg after it is fertilized.
Whether or not a person is pregnant is correctly diagnosed through a blood test about 11 days after fertilization and about 12-14 days after fertilization with a urine test. Normally, HCG hormone levels double every 72 hours during pregnancy, reaching their highest level in the first 8-11 weeks of pregnancy and then decreasing, but continuing throughout the pregnancy.
Of course, in some cases, despite the positive pregnancy test, this level is low, but it is not a serious matter for the health of the fetus, but excessive levels of this hormone can be a dangerous factor for the health of the fetus. Of course, performing an ultrasound after 5 to 6 weeks of pregnancy can provide the doctor, pregnant mother, and family members with accurate results. If the HCG hormone level is less than 5 mIU/ml, it indicates a negative pregnancy, and any level higher than 25 mIU/ml indicates a positive pregnancy.
