ToggleHelp Your Daughter Track Her Monthly Cycle
Starting a Menstrual Calendar
Tracking your monthly cycle is easy, but it has to be done correctly. Make sure you record the first day of your period correctly. Encourage her to chart her contractions, cramping, or any other important symptoms. Soon, a consistent pattern will develop, and your daughter will be able to associate certain symptoms with specific times in her cycle.
Charting Her Monthly Cycle
Your daughter should first mark the days of her period on a calendar. The first day of her period is also the first day of her cycle. If she records her monthly cycle every month, she will discover a pattern. A typical cycle is between 21 and 35 days long.
Track Changes
If she is already used to it, she knows how much she is bleeding. So she should look for unusual things like very little, very heavy bleeding, or changes in the color and texture of the discharge, such as blood clots. If the length of the bleeding, the amount of bleeding, or the type of bleeding seems abnormal, she should definitely let her doctor know. Pay attention to abnormal vaginal discharge throughout the month. In the middle of the cycle, she may notice clear or white discharge, which is completely normal and indicates the time of ovulation. Ask your daughter to bring her menstrual calendar with her to her next visit to the gynecologist. This will help her understand how easy it is to answer the doctor’s questions, and at the same time, the doctor will understand how much your daughter cares about the health of her reproductive system.
