Heavy and Irregular Menstruation
The timing of your first period after giving birth depends on whether you are breastfeeding. If you are breastfeeding your baby, your first period will not occur until you are done breastfeeding, but this does not mean that you cannot get pregnant while breastfeeding. Some women are able to get pregnant immediately after giving birth. So, if you are ready to have sex, be sure to use a form of contraception. During your first period after giving birth, your bleeding may be heavier than before you were pregnant. This means you may need to use a higher absorbency pad or tampon.
