Consumption of Which Antibiotics are Prohibited During Pregnancy?

Taking some antibiotics during pregnancy increases the risk of miscarriage.
Women who are in early pregnancy should avoid taking some antibiotics because they increase the risk of miscarriage. But sometimes these women need to take antibiotics for reasons such as infection, which means they should use antibiotics that do not pose a risk to the fetus.
According to Science, Berard Annick, a pharmacist at the University of Montreal in Canada, said: “Taking some antibiotics during pregnancy, such as penicillin, cephalosporins and erythromycin, does not cause a problem.”
The results of this study showed that some antibiotics, such as macrolides, quinolones, tetracyclines, sulfonamides and metronidazole, are associated with an increased risk of miscarriage in early pregnancy.
However, taking a type of macrolide family, which is erythromycin,

is not associated with an increased risk of miscarriage.
Some nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and

antidepressants are also associated with a risk of miscarriage.
Researchers recommend that women

avoid taking medications during pregnancy without a doctor’s prescription.
